Almost 30% of the global population is obese or overweight and researchers estimate that by 2030 the global number of overweight and obese people may reach about 3.3 billion. Obesity is quickly becoming a serious health problem worldwide, both in developed and developing countries.

Scientists also claim that obesity can weaken the immune system and reduce its ability to fight off infections. Scientists said that obesity can significantly weaken resistance against inflammation and thus causing a higher mortality rate. Immune systems of obese people were weaker than average people for instance in the face of strains of flu and had poor, abnormal responses against them.

Excessive caloric intake in our daily diets can raise blood sugar level and cause oxidative damage. Oxidative damage is largely because of the production of reactive oxygen species in the body. Oxidative damage is associated with Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases.

Eating more vegetables and fruits daily can help increase the intake of fiber and antioxidants. This helps to nourish the immunity with proper nutrition that keeps our body fit and healthy. Thus, ensure that the body receives sufficient and balanced nutrition from all types of food and try best to avoid fried and high calorie foods.
